Sheffield United vs Aston Villa Preview and Prediction
HIGHLIGHTED PLAYER (RICHARD STEARMAN)
Born in Wolverhampton, England on August 19, 1987 Richard Stearman is a defender who represented the Three Lions at youth level. Stearman has four caps for England U21 team and he played nine games for the under-17 squad as well.
The 191-cm-tall footballer is a product of Leicester City football academy and he made his first-team debut with the club on October 30, 2004 in a goalless draw with Cardiff City. The English defender scored five goals in 211 appearances in the league for the Foxes before joining Wolverhampton in the summer of 2008.
He signed a four-year deal with the Wolves and he made his debut for the club on August 9, 2008 in a 2-2 draw with Plymouth. From 2015 to 2017 he played for Fulham and at the end of the 2016/2017 Championship campaign he joined Sheffield United. Richard Sterman’s main position is centre-back, but he is used as a right-back as well.
HIGHLIGHTED TEAM (ASTON VILLA)
Aston Villa is one of the three clubs that dropped to the Championship at the end of the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign. The Villans host their rivals at Villa Park, the stadium that was opened in 1897 and its’ capacity is 42,682. However, it has to be noted that the highest attendance recorded at the stadium was 76,588 when Aston Villa faced Derby County in the FA Cup back in 1946.
Aston Villa’s fiercest rivals are Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion. Nonetheless, the rivalry between Aston Villa and Wolves and Coventry City is big as well. Aston Villa have won seven First Division (Premier League) trophies, with the team clinching seven FA Cup trophies as well.
The team’s biggest success, though, came in 1982 when they won the European Cup. The Villans defeated Bayern Munich (1-0) in the title game and Peter Withe was named the man of the match.
Our prediction for this Premier League match
After coming from behind to beat Norwich City 2-1 on the road, Sheffield United will be looking to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they welcome Aston Villa at their Bramall Lane on Saturday afternoon. The Blades have been playing above expectations in the first half of the season, but they need to keep on improving their game if they are to secure the Premier League survival.
Sheffield United aim to retain their spot in the top half of the standings, and we predict that they are going to adopt an attack-minded approach in Saturday’s football match. The Villans, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-1 loss to high-flying Leicester City. The visitors do not seem to be on top of their game at the moment, and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Sheffield United’s party at Bramall Lane.
