Ongoing games & upcoming games:
Udinese will host Brescia at the Stadio Friuli in the Serie A on Saturday.
Both these sides are close by in the league table. Udinese are in 17th place, above the relegation zone by virtue of their superior goal difference. They have picked up three points from their opening three games. Those were claimed in a 1-0 win over Milan on the opening weekend. Rodrigo Becao scored for Udinese to get their campaign off to a winning start. It was an impressive performance, and they restricted Milan to zero attempts on target. In contrast, they had six shots on goal.
Since then, they have failed to win any of their two games. Udinese took the lead against Parma through Kevin Lasagna, but lost 3-1 in the end. Last week they succumbed to a 1-0 loss against Inter. Rodrigo De Paul was sent off in the first half, which was a turning point in the game. Inter got their goal and Udinese could not threaten much due to their numerical disadvantage. They were limited to just 35% possession in the game.
Seko Fofana started behind Kevin Lasagna against Inter, after Ilija Nestorovski occupied that position against Parma. Nestorovski did not feature against Inter. Manager Igor Tudor can also deploy Ignacio Pussetto in that role. De Paul will be absent against Brescia due to his red card, and Tudor will have to seek a replacement. Rolando Mandragora is the likely candidate to start in midfield for De Paul.
As for Brescia, they are back in the Serie A after an absence of eight years. They were relegated in 2011 after finishing in 19th place. Last season they were crowned as the champions of Serie B which promoted them to the top flight. Brescia started the season on a winning note when they beat Cagliari 1-0 in their first game. Alfredo Donnarumma’s penalty was enough to give his side the three points then.
Since then, they have failed to pick up any points. Milan inflicted a 1-0 defeat upon them the next week. Last Sunday they hosted Bologna which gave way to an entertaining game. Donnarumma scored twice early on as Brescia raced into a 2-0 lead. Bologna pulled one back before Andrea Cistana made it 3-1 before half-time. Daniele Dessena was sent off for Brescia after the interval which changed the pattern of the game.
Bologna scored thrice from then on to win 4-3. But Brescia can draw plenty of positives from the game, especially the way they started the game. Jaromir Zmrhal seems like the likely candidate to replace Dessena in midfield as he will be suspended. Otherwise the rest of the team should be confident of getting a result at Udinese.
Udinese vs Brescia Prediction
Udinese have had a strong home record in recent times, but Brescia can cause them problems. Both teams should score in this one, and the total goals will be over 2.5 in the match. A draw seems like a probable result, albeit with goals.
